BrakeDyn PBBT
Performance-based Brake Tester
The BrakeDyn Performance Based Brake Tester (PBBT) system dynamically tests brakes under fully applied pressure -- in a safe inspection environment -- by driving the vehicle's tires with a set of rollers. As air pressure is applied to the brake system, force produced by the brakes is measured, recorded, and displayed on a computer. Test results are instantly compared to industry standards, using the BrakeDyn PBBT's data acquisition system and printed into easy-to-read test reports, including pass/fail summaries. A single technician operates the BrakeDyn PBBT using a hand-held remote control while monitoring and recording a battery of information (from the cab's front tires to the trailer's rear tires).
In 10-12 minutes, an operator can test a five-axle tractor trailer for imbalance, oil-soaked linings, drag, improper stroke, cracked drums, worn or tight end bearings, air system problems, insufficient parking brake force and tractor/trailer incompatibility. An optional hydraulic shaker plate/lift system also allows for inspection of excessive play in kingpins and tie rods.
- Measures rolling resistance to detect problems like dragging brakes or over-tightened end bearings.
- Measures threshold apply pressure, the air pressure required to overcome rolling resistance to slow the wheels.
- Measures brake force, applied at the tire.
- While brake force is being measured, glad-hand pressure is also being recorded.
- Measures weight of axle.
- Stores all test results in the computer to allow extensive post-test analysis of the complete braking system to determine issues of brake timing, cracking pressures in valves, brake balance, out of stroke conditions, poor brake lining conditions, and more.
- Prints data reports and graphs: Summaries on vehicle identification data, pass/fail graph displays points of failure, tabular print-outs on data acquired on each axle.
- Prints a pass/fail summary.
