Platen Searer

This platen searer is specially designed for Chrysler torque converters. The searing process removes excess fibers from the friction material. Cycle time is less than 10 seconds. Searing is the second step in the bonding process. The unit heats to 600°F. Dies not included.

The A-103-S control system is fully automatic. A timer monitors the searing process duration and releases the top platen when the process is complete. Switches mounted near the safety door hinge reset the timer each time the safety door is closed (as long as the START switch is on).
Operating the A-103-S is as simple as opening the door, installing the friction disk to sear, and closing the door. The platens included with the A-103-S are center drilled to accept a 1 3/8" bolt that locates and holds the top and bottom platens in the correct position. The top aluminum platen is held against the upper heating plate which transfers the heat uniformly throughout the platen.
